There has been a lot of media coverage of the problems with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in children. However, it has been estimated that between one and six percent of adults also suffer from this problem. When adults experience this problem, it can lead to such life difficulties as increased numbers of car accidents, higher incidence of divorce, greater risk of substance abuse and difficulty or failure in handling one’s finances.
Now, a new study shows that adults diagnosed with ADHD may have a solution in Chiropractic care.
In Switzerland, Dr. Yannick Pauli, a chiropractor, conducted a study to find out how much Chiropractic could help with this condition in adults. He first used an objective computer-aided test to measure attention problems in a group of adults, and then administered Chiropractic treatment to that group for two months. “All patients experienced significant improvement in concentration,” said Dr. Pauli. Eighty-eight percent of the patients even tested normal in parts of the concentration tests after the course of treatment.
Dr. Pauli explained that many people may not associate Chiropractic care with improved concentration, but perhaps they should. While most people think of Chiropractic as providing care for spinal health, this research emphasizes the direct link between a healthy spine and healthy brain activity that supports concentration on the outside world.
